I work mainly with dogs and cats but I’m happy to assist with other small pets too.
I'm based in the Falmouth/Helston area, but work with pets throughout Cornwall as well as working with clients online throughout the UK too.
I’m mum to 3 amazing children and have 3 wonderful dogs (2 rescue) & a menagerie of rehomed smaller pets including chickens, rabbits, fish, a bearded dragon and tortoise.
My dogs Katie, Jessie and Buddy regularly help out with nervous or anxious dogs.
My studies have included science at University College Galway, veterinary nursing at University College Dublin and I’ve completed various courses through Bicton and Duchy College.

I worked as a veterinary nurse in veterinary practices for 22years, in all aspects of veterinary care and later specialised in helping pets with behaviour issues, I’ve spent 19 wonderful years at Rosemullion veterinary practice and in 2019 decided to set up on my own.
I’m DBS checked and I’m proud to currently work with 2 charities as a behaviour consultant/trainer Our Dog Training Team | Dogs For Autism and https://www.stfrancisnewquay.org.uk
I run puppy socialisation classes and a variety of training classes outdoors in public spaces such as parks, beaches, fields or even through town in for my doggy life skills class.
I work with all breeds of cats and dogs (including banned/exempted breeds) and all types of behaviour problems including dog to dog reactivity, human directed aggression, noise phobias, anxiety, shutdown rescue dogs, elderly pets with cognitive disorders, resource guarders, OCD and PTSD behaviours, pets with separation anxiety as well as conflicts between pets in the home.
I only use kind positive training methods to help bring out the best in your pet.

Puppy Training & Socialisation
Puppy socialisation and training, using kind, reward based methods. Outdoor classes are run in both Falmouth and Helston Locations. Tuesday 10.30 Swanpool/Gyllngvase/Pendennis Community Centre Wednesday 5.30pm Helston Boating lake Saturday 10am Swanpool/Gyllngvase/Pendennis Community Centre The reason outdoor classes have varied locations is to maximise training/socialisation skills around a variety of distractions and to train the puppies around real life challenges. Ruth will cover topics like lead-walking, recall, settling exercises like stay, calmness and polite behaviour around other dogs and people. All the exercises taught to the puppies (and their owners) are focused on building confidence and great social skills. Indoor sessions for young puppies who haven't fully completed their vaccination course or for puppies under 16weeks who would benefit from extra sessions or who need help with specific topics like crate training, separation anxiety, handling with harness, grooming, biting etc. These sessions are on a Wednesday at 9.15am at Pendennis Community Centre (in the old swimming pool area) in Falmouth

This 5 week course is for teenage pups between 6mths and 2 years costing £80 Group classes in both Falmouth and Helston. Teen dogs are hard work! These classes are all about getting some better focus from your adolescent pup and working on their behaviour around other dogs and people. Every week we work on recall and leadwalking and we can work through unwanted behaviours like jumping up, mouthing, attention seeking barking etc

We are a group of dog owners & meet up at 9am in different locations each Saturday😀
All breeds & ages welcome.
This is a great way to socialise your dog as they are all on leads at all times.
There is no fee to join us!
Many dogs have overcome their fears of other dogs while out walking & its lovely to see the dogs greet each other at the start of the walk.
Please respect social distancing and don’t allow your dog to greet another before checking with the owner first😀
It is the owners responsibility to keep their dog under control and on a lead during these walks.
